The Double Man
An Impression of W.H.Auden by Ed Thomason with Mark Wing-Davey as Auden
Monday, March 28, 2016 at 8:00PM

The Public Theater
The Anspacher Theater
425 Lafayette Street
New York, NY 10003

In 1937, Auden left England to take part in the Spanish civil war, a seemingly inevitable step for the most politically engaged poet of his generation. Two years later, he settled in America, renouncing both his political life and his life in England.

Auden came to see these contradictory actions as the keynote of his personality and of his poetry.

We are, I know not how, double in ourselves so that what we believe we disbelieve, and cannot rid ourselves of what we condemn. -Michel de Montaigne

Chair of Graduate Acting, Mark Wing-Davey, reprises his role as W.H. Auden in this rarely performed one-man show. All proceeds will go to the DM Scholarship at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. The DM Scholarship will support a promising Graduate Acting student who lacks the funds to pay for further study.

All tickets will be assigned based on the tier of ticket purchased. They will be available for pick up at will call on the evening of the event.

Your gift is tax-deductible to the full extent of the law less $25 per person. Tickets are non-refundable and cannot be converted to an outright gift.
