In recognition of the 50th Anniversary of the New York Film Festival and inspired by the Culinary Cinema series at the Berlin International Film Festival, Babettes Feast will be presented by the Hamptons International Film Festival, Guild Hall, and The Film Society of Lincoln Center. Celebrating the 25th anniversary of its screening at the New York Film Festival, this winner of the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film is considered to be the quintessential cinematic ode to gastronomy. Building to the triumphant scene of a feast by an exiled French master chef, the film is based on the short novel by Isak Dinesen, best known for also writing Out of Africa. Join special guests for a discussion after the screening and a culinary treat, courtesy of Babette's Restaurant. Happy 50th Birthday, New York Film Festival! Moderator Geoffrey Drummond, worked on MY DINNER WITH ANDRE as a producer, he also developed and produced cooking shows including a long collaboration with Julia Child and most recently, Eric Ripert's [Avec Eric], among others.
