Lincoln Trio: Desiree Ruhstrat, Violin; David Cunliffe, Cello; Marta Aznavoorian, Piano

Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 4
Beethoven: Triple Concerto
Earnest: Chasing the Sun

Tchaikovsky’s obsession with fate filled his music with some of the deepest human utterances ever composed. In his great musical turning point, Symphony No. 4, he expressed himself fully for the first time — from bleak despair to gentle nostalgia, ebullient celebration, and triumph. Ludwig van Beethoven created a new and unprecedented form in his thrilling Triple Concerto for solo violin, cello, and piano. Chicago’s own Lincoln Trio display their exquisite artistry in this forward- thinking work. And John David Earnest dreamed up his vibrant work, Chasing the Sun, while gazing out the window of a soaring airplane.
