Join Hailey artist Janet Starr in this fun and spontaneous class exploring the principals of dyeing and color theory. Using the ancient art of Japanese Shibori, students will experiment with mark making. Each student will explore a myriad of folding and binding techniques while also learning how to mix their own dye colors. Experimentation is encouraged.

Janet Starr, like generation of women in her family, loves to sew and work with cloth. She finds her inspiration from her wild country surroundings. Snow-covered mountains, rivers, meadows and limitless sky all influence her work. The result of her process is often unexpected and spontaneous, and serves as a jumping off point for the finished piece.
