HOMES / Tied by Water
an interdisciplinary work-in-progress by Moheb Soliman
Thursday, September 3, 2015 at 5:30PM

The Historic Chicago Temple Building
77 W Washington St
Lower Level
Chicago, IL 60603

Poet, performance artist, and Joyce Foundation Fellow Moheb Soliman is tracing the entire Great Lakes coastline by land from June through October for his work-in-progress HOMES / Tied by Water, about nature, modernity, identity, belonging, and more. When Moheb reaches Chicago, The Joyce Foundation and Silk Road Rising will host a special event introducing the artist and project and creating a space for a unique discussion intersecting art, environment, and identity. The evening will include a discussion of his Great Lakes work with overlays of images, language, and gesture, a low-fi installation involving a tent, as well as opportunities to interact with Moheb and have a local exchange about the place of nature in modern life and identity, the differing narratives and disciplines that define the region, and the extent to which the wild, populous Great Lakes borderland has a coherent culture oriented by its water.
