The new, site-specific work In Transit/Liquid Highway by Dominican-born, Brooklyn-based artist Scherezade Garcia reflects on the very difficult experience of migration, and the potent image of water. Join us for an intimate and wide-ranging talk with the artist moderated by Wallach Art Gallery Director and Chief Curator, Deborah Cullen. The artist will discuss her process and influences, the relationship between New York and the Dominican Republic, and the strong role of women in modern and contemporary art from the Dominican Republic, among other topics. Scherezade Garcia’s work for Miller Theatre at Columbia University is co-commissioned and presented in collaboration with The Miriam and Ira D. Wallach Art Gallery.
