The Eastern Iowa Brass Band performs music in the British brass band tradition. Think music composed for the Olympic Games and you will know brass band music. It is thrilling and upbeat at times while moving and melodic at other times but always entertaining and enjoyable. In fact, one of the band's favorite pieces is the music John Williams composed for the Olympic Games hosted in Atlanta. The music ranges from hymns to marches to orchestral arrangements to popular music.

This concert will feature the program the band will perform at the US Open Brass Band Championships in St. Charles Illinois on November 7th.

The Eastern Iowa Brass Band grew from a brass ensemble that was part of the Mt. Vernon, Iowa, City Band in 1985 after Don Stine, director of the city band, attended a seminar on the growing brass band movement in the United States. Regular rehearsals began soon thereafter, and the band competed in its first North American Brass Band Association (NABBA) Championship in April of 1986 where they placed second in their class. The strong showing at such a prestigious competition prompted the founders to incorporate and formed the foundation for what is now one of the most prominent amateur brass bands in the country.
