Oscar Wilde's last comedy opened on Valentine's Day, 1895, and embodied society's rules and rituals artfully with cleverness and humor. The play mocks Victorian traditions, social customs, marriage, and the pursuit of love. This farce is built on an absurd confusion of a book and a baby.
