Amethyst House Presents
2016 An Evening With Greg Brown
4th Annual Benefit Concert
Friday, October 21, 2016 at 7:30PM
114 E. Kirkwood Ave.
Update 10/21/16: Remaining seats in the orchestra pit are now $35!
A long-time favorite on Garrison Keillor’s Prairie Home Companion, Greg Brown brings his raspy baritone and magical songwriting to the Buskirk-Chumley Theater for an evening of acoustic-based music. After 25 albums and over four decades of performing, singer-songwriter Greg Brown has amassed a rock-solid legion of diverse fans--“Greg heads”--who will attest that no two of his shows are alike.
With roots in small town Iowa, Greg Brown’s rich folk style is heavily influenced by his origins. His mother played electric guitar, his grandfather was a banjo player and his father was a holy roller preacher. His songs are as Midwestern as they come - slow, straightforward and bluesy. Brown’s songwriting has been lauded by many, and his songs have been covered by Willie Nelson, Carlos Santana, Joan Baez, Mary Chapin Carpenter and more. At the personal request of Jeff Bridges, Greg also contributed songs for Bridges’ Oscar-Winning role in the film Crazy Heart. Ultimately, Greg Brown is a storyteller who moves his audiences with his warmth, humor and deeply human musical vision.
VIP seats are located in the orchestra pit and include a 6:30pm reception on the BCT mezzanine where you will mingle with other fans and Amethyst House board members whilst enjoying snacks and drinks.
For non VIP ticket holders doors will open 7pm, the event is expected to last 2 hours. Bo Ramsey is expected to open the show.
