Citing her embodied practice of Afro-Diasporic dance forms, as well as punk as pivotal forces on her sensibilities, Abby Zbikowski creates works that pay homage to the effort of living, tactics of survival, and the aesthetics produced as the result. Her newest work abandoned playground foregrounds the necessity of rigor in the body and mind in times of futility. In this evening length event performers unabashedly engage in the oftentimes brutal action of hyper-physical dance as they deal with the unavoidable and high stakes tasks of the present.
