Dir: Gabrielle Burton, USA, 2017, 90 mins

Inviting viewers into a conversation about the distinct and important differences between gender, sex and sexuality, "Kings, Queens & In-Betweens" makes a complex subject approachable for mainstream audiences. Set in Columbus, Ohio, and using the door of drag as an entryway, the documentary presents the spectrum of male, female and trans experience while bringing light to issues of gender and identity–all with humor, big hair and duct tape.

Within the context of a battleground "swing" state, drag troupes--which include midwest marvels Nina West, The Reverend Roy Rogers, and Dr. Cool Ethan--gear up for main stage performances, dedicate themselves to extensive rehearsals/planning, and put their own money (up to $5000 per show) into this form of creative expression, community involvement, and/or political activism
