ResisDANCE for the ACLU and Define American featuring RuPaul as DJ, will take place in The Heath at The McKittrick Hotel on Sunday, April 23rd from 7pm-11pm.

Conceived by Phoebe James, presented by Phoebe James, Jehmu Greene & Meriem Soliman, ResisDANCE will be a monthly event, each dance party highlighting one of the many organizations in need of help under the current political environment.

ResisDANCE Mission Statement:

It is hard to imagine a time when gay men, people of color, women and others systematically persecuted and repressed, felt as free as they did in the New York discos of the late ‘70’s.
-Barry Walters from Night Fever, The Bill Bernstein Photographs

New York City. An electric, innovative, extraordinary city - teeming with life, fueled by the ambitions and desires of its inhabitants, including those of the 12 million immigrants who arrived on Ellis Island’s shores in pursuit of a better life in America. A city that has historically served as a vibrant, diverse haven, no matter from where one hails, a place where you’re free to chase your dream, to let your freak flag fly - high. A city that simply serves as home to all.

The current administration has openly threatened our common principles and values, our civil liberties and constitutional rights. In response, we strive to provide support to the organizations leading the effort to protect those very liberties and rights. Through the power of inclusion, love, and dance, we will come together, find community, raise funds and resist!

Each individual event in the series will highlight and support a specific organization which advocates on behalf of a more inclusive and just America - Planned Parenthood was the first, on March 5th, 2017.
