This course is part of our Branching Out series. In Branching Out, students will apply artistic skills to a specific subject. Students have the chance to mix and combine various media in new and interesting ways.

This is a mixed media class designed to explore the relationship between 2d and 3d design. Students will explore dynamic interdisciplinary themes in order to create 2d sculptures. We will work from conceptual development and skill building, to blueprints, work through creative problem solving strategies, and enact our own visions. For example, exploring metaphors of maps we will complete a series of portrait drawings, explore the varied ‘layers’ of the face, and then create topographical map relief sculpture of our own face. This class focuses on 21st century skill building such as planning, problem solving, and innovation.
