This course is part of our Media in Focus series. In Media in Focus, students will dive deep into one or more art media. From clay to paint, students will build technical skills while enjoying the freedom to explore their artistic voices.

Work to prioritize your own voice within observational painting. Students will learn fundamental painting skills while exploring what it means to make a painting today. They will also use color, paint quality, process, surface, shape, and mark to analyze and respond to classical and contemporary paintings. Students' ideas about observation will be expanded as their role as artists is challenged.
