Written by Bonnie Clearwater One hundred years ago, Dada artist Marcel Duchamp sparked a controversy that forever changed the nature of art by anonymously submitting Fountain, a porcelain urinal signed “R. Mutt” as an artwork to the exhibition of the Society of Independent Artists in New York. Published in conjunction with NSU Art Museum’s exhibition, Some Aesthetic Decisions: A Centennial Celebration of Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain, this new book examines this historic event and its legacy through artworks by Cory Arcangel, John Baldessari, Bernd and Hilla Becher, Sophie Calle, Marcel Duchamp, Judy Fiskin, Mike Kelley, Jeff Koons, Joseph Kosuth, Jorge Pardo, Alfred Stieglitz, Andy Warhol and others. Includes essays by art historian Laurette McCarthy and noted Duchamp authority Francis M. Naumann. Skira, soft cover, 111 pages.
