They’re now regarded as two of history's finest American playwrights, but in the fall of 1944, William Inge was a critic for the St. Louis Star Tribune, and Tennessee Williams was an "emerging" playwright yet to experience anything close to success. In St. Louis before the Chicago premiere of "The Glass Menagerie," Inge invites the young playwright to his apartment for a supposed interview and hopeful tryst. The meeting sparks a relationship which radically alters the course of their lives as well as the American Theatre.

Philip Dawkins is a Chicago playwright whose plays have been produced throughout the country and the world.
