STORIES AND SONGS – An intimate journey of life, love and laughter through stories and the songs that accompany them.

Written and directed by Nita Whitaker.

A favorite singer of legendary composer and producer David Foster, Nita Whitaker is back in New York City with her intimate and breath-taking solo show, “Stories and Songs”, an uplifting journey of life, love and laughter.

Nita has sung with some of the most famous voices of our time, having toured with Andrea’ Bocelli as a guest duet artist and as featured vocalist with jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, along with having performed numerous duets with Josh Groban and Michael Bolton. She sang the original demos for Whitney Houston’s standards, “I Will Always Love You”, “I Have Nothing” and “I Look to You”. A former Miss Louisiana and Grand Champion Hall-of-Fame Star Search Winner, Nita’s superb vocals blend, jazz, pop and classical into her own unique sound. Along with having recorded four solo albums, she has also performed on stage, including four world premiere musicals: Ragtime, Ten Commandments, Breaking Through, and, earlier this year, Born for This at the Broad Stage in Santa Monica, CA.

Nita has appeared in movies, television shows, and studio and live recordings. She is the author of an award-winning memoir titled Finding My Voice and created a 501c3 non-profit “In a World with Books” (, that has given nearly 5500 underserved children new books. She is the mother of two beautifully talented, emerging artists, Skye and Liisi LaFontaine.

Few entertainers in the world can connect with an audience like Nita. In the words of international superstar Michael Buble’: “I watched an incredibly beautiful woman walk on the stage. When she opened her mouth to sing, I was blown away instantly.”

“A joyfully rousing concert full of great singing and indomitable humor. She is beautiful, very funny and a helluva scintillating singer. Whitaker is a truly dynamite performer whose talent is immeasurable and unstoppable. She joins my list of singing favorites; don't miss a single future appearance!” -Don Grigware, Grigware Reviews

“Nita Whitaker brings down the house in the prayerful plea ‘Seventh Son.’” -Charles McNulty, Los Angeles Times review of Ms. Whitaker in the musical “Born for This”

“Looking positively stunning in a black and white pageant dress accentuated with sequins - she was Miss Louisiana in the Miss America Pageant - and displaying her oh so glorious range, Whitaker gave an 80 minute knock out performance.” -Broadway World
