MFA Collaboration Series 17/18 presents:
SPRING AWAKENING
This is the play, NOT the musical. By Frank Wedekind. Adapted and Directed by Alex Mallory.
Friday, May 25, 2018 at 8:00PM

Hal & Martha Hyer Wallis Theater
1949 Campus Drive - Wirtz Center for the Performing Arts
on the Evanston Campus of Northwestern University
Evanston, IL 60208
Located on the southeast part of the Evanston campus just off Sheridan Road on Campus Drive. The Wallis studio theatre space is on the west side of the Wirtz Center/Theater building facing west.

This production contains disturbing content including rape, abortion, gendered violence, masturbation, suicide, teen pregnancy, and depression. It is recommended for adults only.

Betrayed by their well-intentioned parents, six teenagers struggle with sexual and moral awakening in a culture of ignorance and repression. Wedekind's 1891 classic German tragedy addresses the plight of coming of age with acute directness, and this original translation by MFA Director Alex Mallory highlights its urgent and revolutionary exploration of adolescence, education, and generational conflict.

This production is part of the MFA Lab series, matching Northwestern's emerging MFA directors and designers for exciting and unexpected collaborations with contemporary theatre.
