The Billie Holiday Theatre and the Stella Adler Studio present legendary poet, activist and scholar, Sonia Sanchez, in conversation with Sade Lythcott, CEO of the National Black Theatre as a part of the first-ever Black Arts Theater Winter Immersion course. The course is a week-long comprehensive review of the history of the contemporary black theater tradition, highlighting key historical moments like the Harlem Renaissance, the Black Power Movement and the genesis of the Negro Ensemble Company, as well as many black theaters that emerged during the Black Arts Movement. Students will leave with an understanding of the aesthetic, socio-cultural and historical components involved in bringing contemporary black theater to life. More information on the Black Arts Theater Winter Immersion course, including instructions on how to apply, is available online at stellaadler.com/classes/black-arts-theater.

Due to the weather, the date of this event has been changed from Wednesday, January 17th to Thursday, January 18th at 7pm. We look forward to seeing on Thursday, January 18th at the Billie Holiday Theatre!
