The original play, Lysistrata, describes what happened before Athenian women went on a sex strike to halt the Peloponnesian War.
Lysistrata Unbounds a new and unexpected dramatic version of the classic Greek story written by Award-winning playwright Eduardo Machado, and was conceived and directed by John Farmanesh-Bocca (artistic director of Not Man Apart - Physical Theatre Ensemble).

In the play, Lysistrata is overwhelmed by grief after losing her father, brother and husband in the wars. When she is finally delivered the body of her only son, she refuses to bury him. Crushed by these fateful events, she transforms into the most celebrated anti-war activist of the ancient world.

Produced by Beth Hogan and Ron Sossi in association with Gloria Levy
