Guys and Dolls takes place in the 1940’s hustle-and-bustle setting of New York City’s Time Square during the Great Depression. It revolves around two big-city gamblers and the women who dare to love them.

Nathan Detroit is a scoundrel or “rapscallion” in the 1940’s vernacular. He’s been engaged for 14 years to Adelaide, a showgirl at the Hot Box Club. Adelaide is getting frustrated because they haven’t set a wedding date.

Trying to make a quick thousand dollars for his next craps game, Nathan bets another gambler to make a play for Sarah Brown, a serious and proper woman who works at a mission.

Meanwhile flamboyant high-roller Sky Masterson is falling in love with Sarah. Witty and humorous, “Guys and Dolls” pulses with wit, humor, plot twists, and fabulous singing and dancing.

Guys and Dolls is everything a musical should be. After its first season on Broadway, it took home multiple Tony® Awards in 1951 including Best Musical, Best Choreography, and Best Direction.

Composer and lyricist Frank Loesser’s award-winning score includes favorites like “Luck Be a Lady,” “Sit Down You’re Rocking the Boat,” and “I’ve Never Been in Love Before.”

Based on The Idyll of Sarah Brown and characters by Damon Runyon
