Book and lyrics by Barry Harman
Music by Grant Sturiale
Based on the screenplay by Ron Shelton & Clayton Frohman

This world-premiere musical by Barry Harman (The Carol Burnett Show, Romance/Romance, Olympus On My Mind) and Grant Sturiale (Olympus On My Mind, Radio City Christmas Spectacular) will close freeFall’s 18/19 season.

Under Fire was inspired by real events during the Nicaraguan Revolution in 1979. It poses important questions about the role the press plays during conflicts abroad. Is it possible to remain an unbiased observer? Are there moral justifications for a reporter to take sides in a conflict? When objectivity is sacrificed, what are the consequences?

In an age when traditional journalism with its code of ethics finds itself at odds with numerous other forms of information and propaganda on the internet, the themes and dilemmas of Under Fire are perhaps even more relevant now than ever.
