Celebrate the heroes of Polish classical music at the Chicago Philharmonic Festival: Poland 2018. Polish pianist Łukasz Krupiński joins Chi Phil for the Piano Concerto in A minor by Ignacy Jan Paderewski - pianist, composer, politician, statesman and spokesman for Polish independence.
Panufnik's Tragic Overture, which echoes the wartime atmosphere in which it was composed, was dedicated to the composer's own personal hero, his brother, who perished in the Warsaw Uprising.
Also featured: Chopin's final composition for orchestra and Szymanowski's expressive, romantic overture which debuted at the first historic "Young Poland in Music" concert in 1906.
