The New York City-based jazz ensemble Onyx Collective presents their latest iteration of NYXO, a platform that brings together musicians across disciplines to experiment through a live round robin improvisation.

If Onyx Collective—the nebulous jazz ensemble whose name you may have overheard in downtown Manhattan at some point in the past couple years—seems elusive, it is because often times they are. Onyx shows are unannounced, impromptu affairs: you can find them performing in basement, at a cocktail lounge atop a hotel, on the street and in storefront. The cast of performers is interchangeable, as is the kind of music that they play. The Onyx Collective has previously performed and toured with artists Nick Hakim, Princess Nokia, Dev Hynes, Wiki and Kamasi Washington.
