The Secrets of a Mockingbird, explores the life of the beloved, but reclusive author of To Kill a Mockingbird, Harper Lee. Growing up in a small Southern town in the 1930's, Lee had close relationships with her father, lawyer, A.C. Lee and her next door neighbor, Truman Capote. Her mother had mental problems, so Harper was raised by her black housekeeper, Hattie Belle. All three broke her heart in later years. She never wrote another book again. Until she did.
