Ballet Play, taught by Susan Paino, combines dancing, story-telling, and imagining. Children gain practice working together, following directions, and exploring shapes and actions in a creative and playful manner. They develop strength, flexibility, rhythm, and coordination. Students experience the fun of moving freely to music, which enhances the development of self-expression and musicality. Incorporating props and costumes, class members act out a story perform a dance for the last class of the session for families and friends. Attire: Children should wear clothing that allows them to move around freely. Ballet slippers, sneakers, or non-slip shoes are recommended. The class runs Saturdays Oct. 6- Dec. 15 from 9:30-10:15am. NO class on Nov. 24. The student showcase is on Dec. 15. About the instructor: Susan Paino, Early Education Director- Susan brings a unique combination of experience, training, and passion to her work. A classically trained ballet dancer, her teaching practice is rooted in story-telling through movement. Susan has been the lead dance teacher for the Chelsea Youth Theatre education program for more than ten years. She is an advocate for arts in education and leads creative movement story time programs at public libraries throughout Greater Boston. Susan holds a Massachusetts Teacher Certificate in Early Childhood Education and is a Massachusetts Certified Lead Preschool Teacher.
