Showing: November 29, 7:30pm - Gemini & Scorpio Loft
A showing of the culmination of our Fall Residency Playwright, Justin Cimino and collaborator Sarah E.R. Grosman, who have been devising work over a 8-week period with the Letter of Marque Company at our Lieutenants Lab program.
Researched, devised, and written entirely by the company, this piece examines Hart Island, NYC's potter's field. Sitting just off City Island in the Bronx, but known to few and not appearing on any subway map, Hart Island is the final resting place for over 1 million of NYC's unclaimed, indigent dead. The company shines a light on a place so very hard to reach, telling the stories of the deceased, their living relatives, the inmates who perform the burials, and the bureaucrats and activists battling for the island's access and control.
