Writing for Performance with Heidi Kraay
In this workshop for writers across disciplines, we’ll build a new work for performance – be it poetry, song, dance, film, theater, performance art or something new/undefined.

Feeling stagnant in your creative practice? Looking for inspiration? Reconnect with your curiosity and creativity this new year by returning to the simple truth: writing is a physical act.
In Writing for Performance, we will engage in active writing practices using a performer’s vocabulary that engage the full body/mind.
Every week we’ll start from scratch and generate new material through physical/tactile/sensory exercises geared to reconnect us to our creative process. Each of us will use what we create during the workshop to inspire a piece of performance writing -- be it poetry, song, dance, film, theater, performance art or something new/undefined. From there we can revise our work for its next step—or leap.
Note: beyond reading, writing and sharing, we will move and use the space around us. Expect to play with drawing, making physical shapes, exploring outdoors and using all the senses as we cultivate inspiration for writing in new ways. Wear comfy clothes that allow easy movement and dress for the weather.
