Ariel Rivka Dance, led by married team Ariel Grossman (Artistic Director/Choreographer) and David Homan (Executive Director/Composer), presents premieres and repertory works that showcase the all-women company’s combination of contemporary movement and heart-rending storytelling. The two works in premiere, Mossy and Rhapsody in K, will feature newly commissioned scores by composers Mr. Homan and Stefania de Kenessey. In Mossy, two dancers perform a duet that explores the joys and frustrations of motherhood to the thrum of De Kenessey’s electronic score. Rhapsody in K transposes a child’s uninhibited movements to the adult form, infusing lightness and humor into the choreography. She (2018) brings postpartum depression to the fore through dynamic movement and the beat of a breast pump, uniquely scored by De Kenessey in collaboration with Ms. Grossman. Rounding out the program, seven dancers explore light and athleticism accompanied by four amplified cellos in Ori (2015). This signature work was recently added to Ballet Vero Beach’s repertoire.

To fully celebrate Ariel Rivka Dance’s 12th anniversary and mission to bring dance to all, the company has selected two guests companies, ranging from emerging to established artists, to join each performance. The companies selected include Alison Cook Beatty Dance, slowdanger, 277 Dance Project, Tina Croll & Co., Mignolo Dance, Beth and Artists, Valerie Green/Dance Entropy, and Amma.

Music by Rhapsody in K was commissioned by the Charles and Joan Gross Family Foundation.
