Columbia Taal began as a means to promote South Asian dance in both the collegiate and performing arts communities. Towards this goal, Columbia Taal hosts an annual charity showcase, Naach Nation, to provide a space in which other fusion dance troupes can share their interpretations of fusion dance with each other and with a larger audience. Naach Nation is one of the few showcases in the nation that focuses on teams that explore the realm of classical Indian fusion in their music and/or choreography. Beyond supporting fusion dance, Taal also annually aims to give back to the community by donating a considerable portion of Naach Nation proceeds to a selected charity organization, which we plan to do this year as well.
