Columbia Festival of Winds is an afternoon-long concert showcase to benefit inner-city music education. The event will feature concert bands and wind ensembles from universities, public schools, and community groups in the greater New York City area, including the Columbia University Wind Ensemble itself. It will begin with a guest conductor directing the Honor Band, a group of talented high school musicians selected by audition. Following the performance of each of the participating groups, the Festival will close with a massed band performance, where all musicians will be invited to play together. This year's guest conductor will be Dr. David Romines of Marywood University. In addition, this year, Columbia Festival of Winds will feature small groups of Columbia student musicians (including a capella group Uptown Vocal and students from the Bach Society) playing in between our larger participating ensembles.
