Arnold Hall, Jewish Studies Center

Charleston, SC 29401

This one-hour documentary by Mike DeWitt, with narration by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Alfred Uhry, is a unique portrait of Jewish life in "the most Southern place on Earth" the Mississippi Delta. The 1998 film reveals a community dominated by fundamental Protestantism and divided by racial inequities, and includes a candid account of local Jewish residents reactions to the Mississippi summer.
