PS19 Chantale Gagne Quartet - "Salute to Horace Silver"
Monday, May 27, 2019 at 7:30PM

880 Island Park Drive
Charleston, SC 29492

A native of Quebec, Canada, jazz pianist/composer Chatale Gagne began studying music at the age of 8. In 2005, she studied with jazz piano legend Kenny Barron and realized jazz had become her deepest calling. 'Silent Strength' is her self-produced debut recording and features Peter Washington on bass and Lewis Nash on drums. On May 27, the Chantale Gagne Quartet will play the music of Horace Silver, one of the most popular jazz pianists of all time. A member of Art Blakey's Jazz Messengers and steeped in the Hard-Bop jazz tradition, 'The Preacher', 'Song for my Father', and 'Sister Sadie' are a few of his favorite classics.
