AL1F19 - Writing Nonfiction - Memory, Memoir, and Me
Literary
Thursday, October 3, 2019 at 6:30PM

Mosesian Center for the Arts
321 Arsenal St.
Watertown, MA 02472

This class meets Thursday evenings from 6:30 - 8:00 pm except October 31 and November 28.

Have stories to tell, but lack the experience, motivation, or community to help get them down on paper? This class will take writers (and aspiring writers!) on a guided tour of nonfiction writing genres, styles, and approaches—all of which take memory, identity, and personal experience as significant subject matter. Whether writing personal essays, memoirs, family stories, manifestos or other styles, this class strives to help participants find the style, voice, and genre that suits them best. Through readings, group workshops, and guided exercises, beginning and experienced writers alike will be encouraged to tell their stories, their way. This term, the class will draw inspiration from and interact with the late fall exhibition, We the People, which focuses on personal identity, immigration, national identity, heritage and race. Materials list will be posted online prior to the start of class.
