First there was Adnan Syed, then there was Bowe Bergdahl, and now it’s the Cleveland court system…

Big fan of Serial and This American Life? Always wanted to know the inner workings of a hit podcast? Ready for a fun night with fellow podcast fans? Yes? Then this event is for you.

Join WBEZ Chicago on June 28, for a Podcast Passport event with the makers of Serial. Launched in 2014 by the creators of This American Life, Serial quickly became the most-downloaded podcast in the world. It has won every major award for broadcasting including duPont-Columbia, Scripps Howard, Edward R. Murrow, and the first-ever Peabody awarded to a podcast.

At this event, Serial creators Sarah Koenig and Julie Snyder will give the audience a behind the scenes look at how they put together the show. They’ll explain the challenges of reporting each season – first, the case of Adnan Syed; next, Bowe Bergdahl and the war in Afghanistan, and most recently, a year inside a felony courthouse in Cleveland. And, they’ll talk about the surprises, shocks, and personal ups and downs of creating a new form of audio storytelling.
