This class meets on select Thursdays (9/26, 10/17, 11/7, 12/5) from 5:30 - 6:00 pm. Additional class time is scheduled on an individual basis.

This class is part of our ARTery program. Like an artery bringing fuel to the body, MCA’s ARTery program serves as a way for teens to fuel their own passions for the world of art. ARTery students will have the opportunity to explore many aspects of the professional art world. Active ARTery students receive priority interning opportunities with MCA art programs, work alongside professional artists, administrators, and educators, and receive opportunities (based on skill level) to participate in exhibitions and student programs throughout the year.

ARTery Artisans choose a major and minor focus area from the following: Art Education, Exhibition Administration, Exhibition Intallation, Art Administration/Community Art, Studio Ceramics, Studio Drawing, Studio Painting, Studio Mixed Media, Studio Printmaking. ARTery Artisans work in a mentor-apprentice relationship with art professionals to complete goals for their own learning as a part of MCA’s visual art program. Artisans should plan for at least 8 meetings/work sessions in their major area, and at least 3-4 in their minor area, and will set specific project goals with their mentors in contract meetings. Training with professionals in these areas provides students with the skills to confidently contribute to a vibrant art program. Artisans are encouraged to explore several areas before choosing a focus and applying to the ARTery Collective program. Completion of ARTery 1 (or exemption) and meeting grade level requirements (Grades 8-12) are both required for participation in this class.
