Bring the entire family as the New Ohio's underground theatre is transformed into a living archive that celebrates the rich history of NYC's West Village. Families engage in a hands-on 360° pre-show experience, then become immersed in three different short stories, created by some of NYC's most accomplished theatre artists:

SANCTUARY/GARDEN
A historical dig into the soil of the urban sanctuary that is St. Luke’s in the Fields’ community garden.

Team: Spellbound Theatre's Lauren Sharpe with Robert Thaxton-Stevenson and Ben Weber

CHESS‘95
Traverse an epic chessboard where the pieces come to life and need you to sort out the rules. Inspired by the 90s-era conflict between two competing chess shops on Thompson Street.

Team: Led by Marisa Blankier and Christopher-Rashee Stevenson with Perfect City members Jaime Maitin, Jahmorei Snipes and Tiffany Zorrilla. Advisors: Aaron Landsman and Oye Group's Modesto Flako Jimenez

THE SOCIETY OF HISTORIC SONIC HAPPENINGS (SHSH)
SHSH, an imagined experimental wing of the famous Bell Laboratories reveals a secret sonic history of our surroundings. In this immersive sound installation, audiences work with SHSH scientists to preserve forgotten sounds of the past in special sonic time capsules.

Team: Led by Adrienne Kapstein with Bhurin Sead (installation & sound design), Hilary Verni (visual design) and Paul Parkhill (researcher)

AND OUR HOSTS...
The 2018 festival favorite, Pizza Rat, returns to host and is joined by our Archive Apprentices – a team of young theatremakers serving as local experts and stewards of The Archive. Together, they will guide audiences as they discover the artifacts and lore of the festival's West Village stories.

Team: Led by Marisol Rosa-Shapiro, Archive Apprentices: Hannah Cardona, Lulu Elliston, Sofia Mouzakitis, & Tori Muniz, co-developed with Trusty Sidekick Theater Company's Brit Gossett and Esteban Rodriguez-Alverio

UP CLOSE Founding Artistic Producer: Peter Musante Associate Artistic Producer: Sara Morgulis
