Written by Sara Fellini

A grotesquely intimate circle of mourners gather within The Maiden Tower brothel to hold a wake for Dorcas Kelly, the beloved former madame executed for her crimes against humanity, while a riot rages without on the streets of Dublin, 1762. But as the night rages on and Dorcas' many well-kept secrets are revealed, thoughts of love for their departed benefactress turn to questions about their own love, lust, fear, and anger.

Fellini’s dark new comedy brings the audience front and center as the piece is staged in the round with minimal set pieces, and the audience embedded in the walls and furniture of the brothel-turned-funeral home. Sex, lies, murder, and the untold secrets of the dead are unearthed and exposed in this wild and gripping drama.

Founded in 2015, spit&vigor is devoted to the development of new plays and spirited, innovative productions of existing work. Their small roster of productions has been award winning and critically acclaimed, praised as "darkly humorous", "deliciously ghoulish", and "wrenching and visually eloquent" by The New York Times. In collaboration with theater company Theatre4thePeople, spit&vigor was the recipient of the 2015 New York Innovative Theater Outstanding Premiere Production of a Play for In Vestments. spit&vigor was granted The Center at West Park’s Artist Residency to produce Sara Fellini's play MOTH&FLAME, after touring earlier versions of the play to Theater Row as part of the United Solo Festival 2017, The Tank as part of the 2017 DarkFest, the NOLA 2017 InFringe Festival and The Glitterbox Theater in Pittsburgh, PA by special invitation in 2018.
