Catherine Sloper was raised in a house of grief by a father bitterly dead to love. As the suitor he predicted would never arrive makes his passionate, if mercenary appeal, Catherine alights upon a strength of self few would have suspected in her, at the dear price of her most cherished gifts: her optimism, and mercy. With four performers and original music by Paul Carbonara, Randy Sharp directs her new adaptation of Henry James' tragicomic novella, blocks from its 1840s setting at Axis Company.
