Monotypes are one of a kind prints commonly described as Painterly Prints because the printmaking process is less technical and more fluid than traditional etching and lithography processes. Techniques covered include mixing ink, additive and subtractive methods, ghost printing, Chin Colle (Collage), the use of stencils including hand-cut Mylar stencils, multiple plate printing, plate and paper registration methods and other techniques to create vibrant exciting one of a kind prints. Participants will learn how to safely use a professional printmaking press and discuss how to produce monotypes in your own studio without requiring access to a printmaking press.

Class takes place Tue & Wed, Sep 1 & 2, from 10am-4pm.

2020 Craft Series Workshops are generously supported by Heather Horton and Deida Runswick.
