Get ready to roll up your sleeves and create! This class is designed for people who want to practice putting their ideas into action. Each week, we’ll explore a different style of puppetry. Then, participants will create an original short solo performance inspired by that style. The class will learn formal critique methods that will allow us to solicit feedback and rapidly improve our work. Through this intensive process, participants will hone their technical and creative skills, and will be on their way to creating work suitable for puppet slams, web series, and cabaret style performances.
"Puppet Shorts" is an intermediate-level class: while participants do not necessarily need to have extensive puppetry experience, familiarity with the basics of theatrical production is assumed. Participants will be expected to work on performance projects outside of class time and to participate actively in class.
This is an in-person class held at Puppet Showplace Theater. For everyone's safety and in accordance with the advisory issued by the Brookline Department of Public Health, participants are required to be masked at all times when inside the building. Please bring proof of vaccination to the first class on November 10 (a photo is fine).
