Learn how to build imaginary characters and bring them to life in this hands-on exploration of the wonderful world of puppetry! Inspired by favorite and unfamiliar stories, each day we will cover a different puppet building style and performance technique. Projects will range from marionettes to mouth puppets, from hand puppets to shadow characters. Kids will learn to see creative inspiration in found objects and materials, and will learn pro techniques for sewing, cutting, and gluing. We'll also explore how puppeteers use movement, sound, and other performance skills to bring stories to life. Fun crafting projects and creative challenges will also take place throughout the week.

This program is limited to 6 participants. In order to ensure health and safety, kids will have their own physically-distanced workspaces and will not share tools. Everyone will be asked to wear masks on site. Some activities and a mid-day break will take place outdoors (kids should bring their own peanut-free snack). Complete daily procedures will be shared with families the first week of August. A brief child information form will be sent following enrollment. Kids must be a minimum of 7-years old to enroll in this program.
