The Persians

by Sanaz Toossi

directed by Pirronne Yousefzadeh

Hosted by Associate Producer, Kari Olmon, this conversation is the culmination of an eleven-day virtual residency for playwright Sanaz Toossi (2019 Page 73 Playwriting Fellow). During the residency, Sanaz will collaborate with director Pirronne Yousefzadeh and actors on her new play The Persians. The cast will read approximately 10 minutes of the play during this free, hour-long event that will also feature audience questions.

About The Persians:
Every year, an Iranian-American family gathers in Los Angeles to celebrate Norooz, the Persian New Year. Shadi and Masoud find themselves increasingly at odds over their memories of the country they fled thirty years before, and the dissolution of their marriage forces their three children to reconsider their Iranian heritage against the backdrop of the 2016 election and its aftershocks.

Page 73 is delighted to offer this virtual event for free to our entire community. However, all writers and collaborators are being paid. If you are able, please consider donating to help Page 73 provide this opportunity for our playwrights. We thank you in advance for contributions of any size!
