BASEBALL, THE NAVY, AND GETTING THE GIRL: How Gene Kelly Turned Dancing into “A Man’s Game”
S21 Gene Kelly: Virtual Lecture
Wednesday, February 3, 2021 at 12:00PM

Greater Boston Stage Company
395 Main Street
Stoneham, MA 02180
ADMISSION: Virtual one hour lecture about American screen and stage legend, Gene Kelly. Discussion led by Associate Artistic Director, Ilyse Robbins. Talkback included.

Gene Kelly is synonymous with singing in the rain, Americans in Paris, and going on the town. He was America’s All-American, Blue-Collar, Guy-on-the-Street heartthrob. Women wanted to dance with him and men wanted to dance like him. He made dance masculine and the idea of singing your feelings second nature. We’ll view clips of Kelly from his days of dancing with his siblings to his most iconic movies to his TV appearances. Join me to learn about this star of America’s Golden Age of Musicals.
