Charles Troy returns to Skokie Theatre with his first live presentation since 2020. This brand-new, behind the scenes look at Anyone Can Whistle was created exclusively for Skokie Theatre.

After three big hits in a row to start his career—West Side Story, Gypsy, and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum—Stephen Sondheim chose to musicalize an outrageous original script by Arthur Laurents for his fourth Broadway show. Sondheim was riding for a fall, and he got it: Anyone Can Whistle was ahead of its time, but was not what Broadway was expecting. However, the theatergoing public, got an amazing score, one that prefigured Sondheim’s five brilliant Broadway shows of the next decade.
