Join us for a series of three online conversations led by Pamela Dellal, Co-Director of the Bach Institute. While Bach cantatas are often filled with sophisticated musical and theological elements, our discussions will focus on what’s immediately engaging and appealing about these works. No prior knowledge of cantatas is required, but a basic level of comfort with classical music conventions and terminology is helpful.
We will meet on three Wednesdays this fall over Zoom to discuss the upcoming Sunday's programmed cantata. Participants will listen to a recording on their own time before the discussion, and of course will have the opportunity, if they choose, to attend the Sunday cantata performance either in person on via live stream.
Participants will attend all three sessions as a course:
Wednesday, November 10, 2021
BWV 60: O Ewigkeit, du Donnerwort I
Wednesday, November 17, 2021
BWV 96: Herr Christ, der einge Gottesohn
Wednesday, December 1, 2021
BWV 70a: Wachet! betet! betet! Wachet!
