On their last night together in May 1944, Hungarian poet Miklós Radnóti and his wife Fanni sing of their love, as well as the struggles in their marriage, as Death muses on at their past and their tragic future. After the war, a small book of poems found in Radnóti's coat pocket will identify his body and establish his reputation as one of Hungary’s greatest poets and a major witness to the Holocaust.
