Latino Theater Company presents
Interview with a Mexican
Based on conversations with Gustavo Arellano
Adapted for the stage & directed by Anthony J Garcia
Jaguar Jeopardy by Lorenzo Gonzalez
Developed and devised by Su Teatro
Inspired by Gustavo Arellano's column ¡Ask a Mexican!, Interview with a Mexican uses satire, humor and political incorrectness to examine stereotypes, anti-immigration politics and misconceptions that outsiders hold about Mexican culture. It is simultaneously informative, profound and obnoxious. Led by the all-knowing “Mexican,” inspired by the character Gold Hat from the Treasure of Sierra Madre, who answers questions from the curious, racist and naive. The “Mexican” consistently imparts wisdom and challenges, as he encourages audiences to “Ask, so you don’t look like a pendejo.”
