How to get over audition nerves, and be prepared for almost any eventuality
How to “not act” and embrace the subtle, naturalistic unpolished style used in many spots today
The different approaches required for the 3 different ways to audition; in-person, live online, and self-tape.
an overview of the logistics of pursuing this work professionally, and the ways in which commercial work differs from other kinds of acting
You’ll have a chance to get in front of the camera, get direction, and observe others do the same. We’ll cover the various aspects of this work, watch and discuss existing spots,do some Q&A,and you will leave the class significantly more prepared to audition for and act in commercials!
About Joe Smith:
Joe Smith has been a working professional actor for 30 years, in theatre, film, TV, voice-overs, corporate work and more, in both Boston and LA, but his bread and butter for decades has been on-camera commercials.
He has worked with directors Christopher Guest, Errol Morris, Bobby Farrelly, and the Russo Brothers, and was the spokesperson for Cheez-It for 9 years. He has also been teaching acting for many years, through Boston Casting, The Orange County School of the Arts, Sol Acting in Albuquerque, and UCLA, among others.
