In this class, students will be introduced to the versatility and vibrancy of acrylic painting. We will experiment with some of the basic properties of acrylic such as color blending, layering, and texture building, and apply these to both abstract and representational painting. We will also explore different kinds of brushes, brush strokes and other painting tools. We will cover the fundamentals of composition, tone, and contrast. One-on-one and group discussions will help to guide the creative process, providing insight into key concepts such as intention, inspiration, spontaneity, metaphor, and others. This course offers students the basic tools and ideas to embark on their own personal painting practice.
